Are preassembled glass block windows fabricated with or without vinyl frames?
Preassembled basement window panels are frameless as they are mortared directly into your foundation masonry reopening. Preassembled glass block windows with vinyl frames, we build primarily for wood framed openings.
Can glass block be sized to fit any opening?
Yes, we have many sizes and can fill any width by height with glass blocks. Glass blocks are always configured in a symmetric fashion.
What if we need airflow in a window?
Glass block basement windows are available with an optional fresh air vent. The air vents typically take the place of two or three glass blocks; they are normally centered and come in white vinyl hopper style with a screen on the exterior side.
How are glass blocks installed?
Glass blocks may be assembled with either mortar or clear glazing sealant. Both installation methods are equally secure and watertight. We will make a recommendation based on your windows size and type.
Can I expect glass blocks to be energy efficient?
The glass blocks we install in basement window openings are hollow and are 3 1/8” thick. The air space inside the sealed glass block reduces heat transfer, similar to a thermal pane window.
Can I get privacy and light transmission with glass block?
All glass blocks transmit light. The level of privacy you seek will determine which pattern you select.
