Visibility/Light Transmission
Vistabrik Solid Glass block provides exceptional visibility, is scratch-resistant and transmits up to 80% of available light in both directions without any yellowing, clouding or weathering. It is also easy to clean.

The Northridge, CA earthquake on January 17, 1994 was the largest earthquake in the United States to have its epicenter in an urban area. A detailed survey was made of the performance of structures containing glass block panel applications. In all sites visited, the glass block walls resisted the seismic forces without failure.

What is Vistabrik?
Vistabrik is a solid glass block (sometimes called “glass brick” made of full-thickness glass rather than hollow cavities). It’s designed for applications needing strength, security, fire-resistance, and visual clarity.
What are its typical dimensions and thickness?
The standard thickness is 3″ (approx. 7.6 cm) Normal block sizes include 8x8x3, 6x8x3, 4x8x3, and in some cases custom/made-on-order sizes like 4x4x3
What finishing patterns are available (e.g. clear, privacy, etc.)?
- Clear – provides maximal visibility/transparency.
- Stippled – offers more privacy (diffused surface) while still transmitting light. This is often a special-order finish.
What are its fire ratings / performance under fire conditions?
Vistabrik blocks are fire-rated. Typical ratings are 45-, 60-, and 90- minute fire-rated window or panel assembles (depending on configuration). For instance the block itself is UL listed in assembles for up to 90 minutes.
How much light does Vistabrik transmit?
About 90 % visible light transmission in the clear finish. That means nearly as much daylight as clear glass, through exact light transmission may vary slightly (some small amount) depending on pattern/finish.
